Springs carry the entire weight of the door and are the most common failure we see. Most sets last 10,000 to 15,000 cycles, roughly seven to ten years. When one breaks you usually hear a bang, and afterwards the door feels impossibly heavy. Do not operate it. We replace torsion and extension springs, and on a two-spring system we replace the pair, because the second is the same age.

Lift cables work with the springs to raise the door evenly. They fray from age, from moisture, and from rubbing on a drum that has drifted out of alignment. A snapped cable leaves the door hanging crooked or jammed in the opening. We replace cables in pairs, check the drums and shaft, and re-balance the door afterwards.

Rollers are what let the door travel quietly. Worn or seized rollers are the usual answer when a door has become loud, shaky, or binds partway up. Builder-grade rollers often have plastic wheels and no bearings, and swapping them is frequently the cheapest upgrade with the biggest difference in how the door sounds.

Garage Door Track Repairs

A bump from a vehicle, a loose bracket or a fastener working loose will pull a track out of alignment, and the door starts to catch or grind. We realign where the damage allows and replace sections where it does not. A door off its tracks is an urgent call, because forcing it back on usually bends a panel.

Garage Door Opener Repair

A door that reverses halfway, hums without moving, or answers the wall button but not the remote can be a stripped gear, a failed capacitor, a logic board, a misaligned sensor or a drifted travel limit. We repair belt, chain, screw drive and wall-mount jackshaft openers, including LiftMaster and MyQ. If the unit is far enough gone that a repair will not hold, we also handle garage door opener replacement.

Safety Sensor and Eye Beam Repair

The photo eyes near the floor are the most common reason a door refuses to close and reverses with the lights blinking. Sometimes it is misalignment, sometimes a wiring break, sometimes afternoon sun hitting the receiver. We realign, rewire or replace them and test the auto-reverse afterwards.

Hinge and Lock Repair

Hinges hold the sections together and take a lot of flex. Cracked or rusted hinges let panels move independently, which is how a small problem becomes a bent panel. We replace worn hinges, repair locking hardware, and check the section joints.

Drum and Shaft Replacement

Cable drums sit at each end of the torsion shaft and wind the cables as the door lifts. A cracked drum, or one that has slipped on the shaft, makes the door lift unevenly. We replace drums, check the bearings and center bracket, and re-set cable tension on both sides.

Garage Door Panel Replacement

A vehicle backing into a door, hail, or a door coming off its tracks usually damages one or two sections rather than the whole door. Where the model is still available we replace individual panels, which is far cheaper than a full door. Where sections are discontinued we will say so rather than sell a repair that will not hold, and we can quote a new garage door instead.
